    Reporting to the Sports Betting Supervisor, the Sports Betting Cashier is responsible for an efficient and timely exchange of cash in the form of wagers from patrons. This position is responsible for supporting the Sports Betting operation by selling tickets as well as posting and providing information in order to enable guests to wager on various sporting events. The Sports Betting Cashier also pays winning Sports Wagering.  The Sports Betting Cashier receives information in abbreviated and fast requests from the customer. This interaction between customer and Sports Betting Cashier is pivotal and must be done in a professional and courteous manner.  Information must be entered into the Sports Betting Cashier’s machine accurately as tickets are produced before the customer pays for them. The Sports Betting Cashier must secure or maintain control of the tickets until the customer pays. This position places an emphasis on the ability to deliver superior customer service while working in a fast-paced environment, delivering with good appearance and etiquette.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides prompt, courteous and accurate service to customers, utilizing the highest degree of skill in writing and handling wagering tickets.
    • Utilizes Spotlight on Success service standards to provide exceptional customer service to customers.
    • Writers should be constantly aware of Total Rewards tracking; notifying a Supervisor of any players with action requiring a tracking number.
    • Properly accounts for all cash and chips received. Ensures all voids and NIC’s are processed properly.
    • Must be fully aware of scratches, post times and exotic wagers. Knows all terms and conditions pertaining to horse race wagering.
    • Knows all terms and conditions pertaining to sports wagering.
    • Must be fully aware of lines and odds in the Sportsbook.
    • Reports any safety hazards to assigned Supervisor.
    • Remains alert to any peculiar betting patterns such as “messenger betting” or “loading” parlay cards, and reports promptly to the Supervisor.
    • Must observe confidentiality of privileged information obtained as a result of normal working procedures.
    • Must be aware of all Title 31 procedures; making sure that Title 31 transactions are entered on the MTL log.
    • Responsible for proper audio and visual presentation in the Racebook.
    • Preparation of all scratch sheets, and putting out daily track plaques.
    • Making sure that all daily race recaps are hung in the display case.
    • Filling out appropriate tax forms (W2-G) when necessary.

                 Education and/or Experience:

    High School Diploma and/or Associate’s Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree with strong mathematical skill set. Must be 21 years of age.

     

          Special Qualifications:

    Strong background and in-depth knowledge of the industry and wagering process a must.

    Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

    Interpersonal and communication skills; ability to act professionally and confidently interact with all constituents.

    Demonstrates poise, tact, judgment and diplomacy.

    Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
